See you all! Tusa Enriquez December 25, 2007 First of all, I wish you, your family and friends a Merry Christmas. The year 2007 was very good for Mapua Alumni Association of San Diego, and it started with the induction of officers on March 24th 2007 at Barona Valley Ranch Resort & Casino. It was a well coordinated, prepared and attended with fantastic atmosphere enjoyed by all attendees. Thanks to the superb efforts of Nando Sumangil and members of his committee. We continued to support our scholarship program through members' voluntary contributions and various fundraising events. Our scholar, Jonathan Dangue, continued to excel in his studies and currently on his 4th year, 3rd quarterm. Thanks to all members for your voluntary contributions. Thanks also to Dan Manalansan and Frank Enriquez for ensuring our timely financial support to our scholar, and to Jong Belano, our liaison officer at MIT, for coordinating the program with the school. It is gratifying for me to be able to help somebody who is less fortunate to achieve his/her educational goals, and we should continue to support this program. We conducted the following two fundraising events to support our scholarship program: 1. Christmas caroling on December 1st and 15th 2007. Thanks to all the carolers especially to Rod Alonte, our musical Director, for superbly coordinating the event, and to Venny Manuel, our musical conductress, for making us look good and sing like professionals. It was a fun filled event and I'm pretty sure that all participants enjoyed it. Thanks to our hosts for their hospitality, generosity and support to our scholarship program. We raised about $860.00 2. Participated in the San Diego Executive Lions Club "Walk for the Blind" fundraising event. Thanks to Frank and Tusa Enriquez and Nando Sumangil for raising about $226.00 We fed the homeless at Saint Vincent D'Paul on May 5th 2007. Thanks to all participants and to Ben Manuel for coordinating the event. We held a "Concept Design Contest" with MIT students of Architecture in support of the PhilAM BID project in building a FILAM center Plaza Filipinas in San Diego. The winner was our very own scholar Jonathan and was awarded $200.00. Thanks to Rod Alonte for coordinating this initiative. We held our annual picnic on Sept 8th 2007 and as usual everybody have fun and enjoyed the food and camaraderie. Thanks to Matt Malig for coordinating the event and to all for sharing their favorite dish. We held our Christmas Party on December 8th 2007 at Andy and Didi Lopez' home. Many thanks to Andy & Didi for opening their home to us, and to all for sharing your favorite food and exchanging gifts. Many thanks to all for your support and making 2007 a successful year for MAASD and rewarding for me as the President. However, due to job opportunity in Japan I am resigning and will turn-over the Presidency to the 1st Vice-President Tusa Enriquez effective January 1, 2008. I wish you all continued success, I will be in touch and once again "Meri Kurisumasu". Monday: 22nd May 2006 Message from Nando Sumangil Hi everyone, I just want to share with you this pictures taken during my visit at Mapua Institute of Technology last April. The first taken when I was handing the check to recipient of our scholarship program. The second is handing our donation to the Mapua Choir. Because of the holy week vacation only a fraction of the choir was present. Our scholar and the Mapua Choir are very thankful for the help we are extending to them.
